God confronted Adam in the garden after he had yielded to temptation and eaten the forbidden fruit, he blamed Eve. “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it” (Genesis 3:12 NIV). Eve in turn blamed the serpent. “The serpent deceived me, and I ate” (Genesis 3:13). I’ve heard others blame God saying, “I can’t help myself. God made me this way.” The only way to overcome your sin is to take responsibility and throw yourself on God’s mercy. Do what David did. He said:
“’I will confess
— Psalm 32:5 (NIV)
my transgressions to the Lord.’
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.”
Hear my prayer and forgive my sin. Amen.
