The first step in breaking our addiction to the almighty I is to stop blaming others. As a pastor, I heard every excuse in the book, but at their core they were all the same. It was always someone else’s fault. No matter what a person did it was never his fault. Almost no one was willing to take responsibility for his actions. As the wise man said,
“A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the Lord.”
— Proverbs 19:3 NIV
Let me ask you a couple of questions. Are you man enough to take responsibility for your actions? Are you willing to confess your sins? As long as you continue to play the blame game you will never be free.
Lord Jesus it is our fault. We have sinned. Forgive us and set us free. Amen.
