A third criteria for wise decision making is feedback. Good leaders never make decisions in a vacuum. They use their team and independent resources to broaden their thinking and enlarge their vision. As a pastor I used both my pastoral staff and the official board as a source of feedback when making critical decisions. Missionary Don Exley played a critical role in my decision to develop a missionary in residence program. Tim Evans, an intern, was instrumental in helping me decide to implement our Lay Ministers Training Institute. And there probably never would have been a national radio ministry without Roy Williams.
Who provides input and critical feedback for you?
“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still.”
— Proverbs 9:9 (NIV)
Lord, surround us with wise people who will increase our understanding. Amen.
