Many of us tend to assume that Jesus was victorious in temptation simply because He was divine. Nothing could be farther from the truth. As Dr. David L. McKenna points out, ” No special gift was conferred upon him because he was the Son of God…(He) entered temptation with the same resources that are available to every common man or woman who seeks to do the will of God…” He was able to overcome every temptation not because He was divine, though He was, but because He was prepared.
“Therefore, in all things He (Jesus) had to be made like His brethren…being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.”

Lord Jesus, equip us to overcome temptation. Amen.
