I was having coffee with a friend recently when the subject of Jesus’s temptations came up. My friend’s brow furrowed, and he looked at me with intense eyes. Finally, he said, “About this temptation thing… If Jesus really did struggle with temptation like I do, then I would sure like to know His secret. I mean, how did He live His whole life without sinning?”
That’s the question, isn’t it? How could Jesus be tempted in every way like we are (see Hebrews 4:15) and yet never succumb? How could He resist every temptation and live a perfectly sinless life?

Jesus, teach us how to resist temptation. Amen.
