The culture is constantly trying to squeeze us into its mold. Christian values are ridiculed, while political correctness has become a religion. There are some things we cannot partake of without compromising ourselves—things like racism, greedy materialism, dishonesty, slander, and immoral sexual behavior, to name a few. There are certain people we cannot run with without defiling ourselves. You cannot become a person of character and spiritual integrity unless you refuse to be conformed to this world’s system.
“Keep vigilant watch over your heart;
— Proverbs 4:23–27 (MSG)
that’s where life starts.
Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth;
avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip…”
Lord Jesus, the pressure to conform to this world is relentless. Since I can’t do anything to reduce that outward pressure, I ask You to strengthen my internal spiritual supports. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
