After sorting through all the things I have to be thankful for, I realized that one thing stands out above all the rest—my salvation. Although I have lived a fairly decent life by society’s standards, by God’s law I am a transgressor. I am guilty. There are no mitigating circumstances, nothing I can say in my defense. I have been judged and found wanting. There is absolutely nothing I can do to save myself. But what I could not do for myself, God did for me. “…While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”(Romans 5:8).
“Praise the Lord, O my soul,
— Psalm 102:2-3 (NIV)
and forget not all his benefits
who forgives all your sins…”
Father God, may I be ever mindful of so great a salvation. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
