Pride is often the biggest obstacle to healing and reconciliation. Many of us find it nearly impossible to say, āIām sorry. It was my fault. Please forgive me.ā Once, when I made a bad decision that negatively affected our congregation, I had to make a public apology. It was the only way to resolve the issue. Not only did I have to publicly own my mistake, but I had to identify my faulty thinking which led to my poor decision. Once I did that my congregation was able to forgive me and move on.
“Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
— James 4:10 (AMP)
Lord Jesus, help us to recognize when we are wrong and make things right. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
