A revelation of God’s holiness inevitably leads to a realization of personal sin. Once we see God high and lifted up in all of His glory we cannot help but be undone. Like Isaiah we will cry, “Woe is me!” Thankfully the Lord does not leave us overwhelmed by our sin. Instead He takes our guilt away and makes atonement for our sin.

“Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, ‘See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.’”

— Isaiah 6:7 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, the nearer I draw to You the more glaring my sinful imperfections become. Remove my guilt and forgive my sins. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
