Jesus was able to resist every temptation because He was prepared. Through the discipline of prayer, the study of the Word, public worship and obedience to the Father, He was able to bring every thought, every desire, and every action into submission. If Jesus had to practice these disciplines in order to overcome temptation, how can we think for a minute that we can do any less? If we will practice the disciplines of Jesus we too can overcome temptation.

Lord Jesus, left to our own devises we are no match for the evil one, but with Your help we can resist temptation and live a holy life. Help us. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
