I believe it was Charles Swindoll who said something to the effect that, “God gives us great opportunities cleverly disguised as impossible situations.” When Elisha’s servant saw “an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city” it looked like a hopeless situation to him. As far as he was concerned his life was over. There was no way of escape. But what he thought was an impossible situation was a grand opportunity for the Lord to display His awesome power.
“Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
— 2 Kings 6:17 (NIV 1984)
Don’t just look at your circumstances or you may despair. Ask God to open your spiritual eyes so you can see His present power!
