Without the resurrection, the incarnation is nothing more than a ridiculous gesture in which God became one of us in a misguided attempt to save us from our sins. Without the resurrection, the crucifixion of Jesus is nothing more than a tragic miscarriage of justice. Without the resurrection, our faith is mere wishful thinking, or, as the apostle Paul argues, “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith…” (1 Corinthians 15:14).

“But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead… So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man.”

— 1 Corinthians 15:20-21 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying a hideous death that You might defeat death and bring us eternal life. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
