The second group of people the leader has to deal with are the VTPs—the very trainable people. They are like the VIPs in talent and temperament, but they lack their experience and maturity. To achieve their full potential as godly leaders, they must be trained and discipled. Although their training requires a considerable amount of the leader’s time and energy, it is time well spent. Timothy and John Mark are good examples. Both were disciples of the apostle Paul and went on to become vital leaders in the New Testament church.
“I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly… you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel.”
— Philippians 2:19, 22 (NKJV)
Lord, help us to invest ourselves in tomorrow’s leaders. Amen.
