A third factor in the early church’s effectiveness was the manifest power of the Holy Spirit. Paul wrote, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:4). While apologetics is important, it becomes less effective in an age of relativism when truth becomes subjective. This is where power evangelism comes in. Unbelievers who cannot be convinced by reason may be converted by “a demonstration of the Spirit’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:4).

“The apostles were performing many miraculous signs and. . . more and more people believed and were brought to the Lord.”

— Acts 5:12, 14 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, baptize Your church with the Holy Spirit and power. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
