Many of America’s fastest-growing churches have gone to great lengths to reach the millennial generation. I commend them for their creativity and boldness in developing new strategies to reach a new generation. Still, I feel compelled to raise one word of caution. In our efforts to be relevant, we must be careful not to forsake the DNA of the New Testament Church. We must always be on guard lest we exchange the Church’s spiritual heritage for clever techniques, regardless of how effective they may be in building a crowd.
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.”
— 2 Timothy 1:6 (ESV)
