The Ten Commandments declare God’s moral law. Proverbs provides wisdom and insight for living. The historical books and the Prophets reveal God’s presence in history. The gospels tell the story of Jesus’ earthly ministry, His death, and His resurrection. All of this is critically important if we are to discern God’s will and live a life pleasing to the Lord.

Father God, give us an insatiable hunger for Your Word. Inspire us to read it, to meditate on it, and to memorize it. Remind us that it is food for our soul and that it is to be obeyed and not simply admired. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
