Some years ago, a man came to my office for counseling. He chose to see me rather than his own pastor, so great was his shame. Hardly had I closed the office door before he fell to his knees sobbing. For several minutes he wept before the Lord. Finally, he was able to compose himself and only then did he share his dark secret. “I’ve failed my family and my God,” he confessed. “Is there any hope for me?”
“[God] does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
— Psalm 103:10, 12
Lord Jesus, forgive our willful sins and change us. Make us into the man or woman You have called us to be. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
