Inbred in fallen humanity are two burning desires—a love of money and a quest for power. At one time Christianity confronted these issues, identified them for the evil they are, and challenged men and women to renounce them and give their allegiance only to Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, in this age of affluence the pursuit of prosperity and power has been falsely legitimized. Or as Paul Tournier notes, “…the GPN is the modern Golden Calf.”

Lord Jesus, make us good stewards. Help us to use all of our influence and all of our earthly goods to advance Your Kingdom. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
