While writing “East of Eden,” John Steinbeck began each day’s work with a letter to Pascal Covici, his friend and editor. Those letters served to warm him up for his day’s work and became a kind of commentary on the novel itself. I can distinctly remember hoping that someday I might have a relationship like that—a friend who shared my love for books and my passion for writing.

God gave me such a friend—Keith Provance, my publisher. That was nearly 40 years ago and during that time he has published more than 30 books for me. Our friendship is stronger than ever after all these years. Why? Because it is built on our shared faith in Jesus Christ, our mutual appreciation for the written word, and a common commitment to advance the Kingdom.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for blessing me with a friend like that. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
