Don felt “called” to be a missionary but he didn’t fully trust his feelings so he put a “fleece” before the Lord (Judges 6:36-40). “Lord,” he prayed, “if You are truly calling me to be a missionary give me so much compassion for lost souls that I can’t stop weeping.” Hardly had he got the words out of his mouth before great sobs shook his body and for more than two hours he wept before the Lord, unable to stop. From that day forward he dedicated all of his energies to preparing himself to be a missionary.
“…Before you were born I set you apart;
— Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Lord Jesus, like Isaiah I pray, “Here am I. Send me.” In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
