Inbred in nearly all people are two burning desires—a love of money and a lust for power. At one time Christianity confronted these desires, identified them as sin, challenged believers to renounce them and give their allegiance only to Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, in this age of affluence the pursuit of prosperity and power have been falsely legitimized. Or as Paul Tournier notes, “…the GPN is the modern Golden Calf.”
