My brother Don was praying one Sunday morning when he felt “called” to be a missionary. He didn’t fully trust his feelings, so he prayed, “Lord, if You are truly calling me to be a missionary give me so much compassion for lost souls that I can’t stop weeping.” Hardly had he got the words out of his mouth before he was overwhelmed with a burden for lost men and women. Great sobs shook his body and for more than two hours he wept before the Lord, unable to stop. Fifty years later Don is still weeping over the lost. He has never lost the burden the Lord gave him when He called him.

“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

— Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, send us. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
