Life hasn’t been easy. Bank failures, home foreclosures, and unemployment tempt us to despair. If history is any indication, we are in for even tougher times before things get better. In the difficult days ahead, disappointment and difficulty will tempt us to focus on the negative but we dare not. Only hope will sustain us and gratitude is the fuel that feeds it.

Lord Jesus, forgive us for trusting in riches and other material things for our security. Teach us to trust only You. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
