After their children are grown and gone, many a parent realizes that for all of their good intentions, they have handicapped the children they love more than life. They have damaged them, not out of cruelty but out of kindness. By giving their children all they could ever need or want, they have deprived them of the very things God uses to make us into the men and women He has called us to be.

Lord Jesus, give us the strength to let our children endure hardship that You might develop character in them. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
