I want to begin today’s devotion with a confession. I have always been quick to honor those whom I considered my peers, but I have not been very good at honoring those whose achievements were greater than my own. Consequently, I missed several opportunities to build relationships with those whose friendship could have enhanced my life and ministry. God brought them into my life but due to my insecurities or jealousies I failed to honor them, and I am the poorer for it.

“Honor one another above yourselves.”

— Romans 12:10 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, forgive me for allowing my insecurities to blind me to the gifted people You brought into my life. From this moment forward I determine to honor others above myself, especially those whose achievements dwarf my own. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
