A few years ago, a pastor friend was diagnosed with inoperable cancer just before Thanksgiving. Following his diagnosis he wrote, “I am thankful for God who is real and personal, for a Christ who is present in power, and for the Holy Spirit who is by our side in every struggle… My Thanksgiving list this year is made not from what I have, but from Who has me – a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think.”

“For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.”

— Isaiah 41:13

Lord Jesus, we thank You for the promise of Your presence, the possibility of healing, and the hope of eternal life. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
