So great is the love of God that there are times when I am tempted to make light of sin, to foolishly think that it is no big thing. Then I remember the cross. That’s what God thinks about sin! It is so deadly, so evil, that it must be dealt with even if it means punishing His own son. The prophet Isaiah says that Jesus was, “…stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted…it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer…For he bore the sin of many….” (Isaiah 53:4, 10, 12).
