The second gift of the Spirit Paul indentifies is a “word of knowledge” (1 Corinthians 12:8). A “word of knowledge” is information imparted by the Holy Spirit to facilitate ministry. Let me share an example from Paul’s ministry. In Lystra he encountered a man crippled from birth. “Looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed.” How did Paul know the man had faith to be healed? Through a word of knowledge. So Paul called to him in a loud voice, “Stand up!” And the man jumped to his feet and started walking” (see Acts 14:8-10 NLT).

“The apostles were performing many miraculous signs and wonders among the people…”

— Acts 5:12 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, activate the gifts of the Spirit that we may minister in the power of the Holy Spirit. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
