As long as King David refused to confess his sin he was physically ill. Hear him as he cries, “…because of my sin my guilt has overwhelmed me…My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body…” (Psalm 38:4 and 7). David had violated his spiritual values and the resulting spiritual and emotional dissonance was making him sick. That’s why James instructs us to “…confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed” (James 5:16).

who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases.”
Lord Jesus, I am at war with myself. This internal conflict is making me physically ill. Hear my confession and heal me. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
