Have you noticed that the things that once brought you so much satisfaction—your marriage, your family, your friends and your career—no longer do so? Maybe it is because you have tried to use those relationships to meet the deepest longings of your soul, longings that only God can meet. When we seek for life’s deepest meaning and fulfillment in God and God alone, then He allows us to experience joy in all of our other relationships for they have ceased to be substitutes for God and have become the gifts of God—expressions of Himself freely shared.
