I don’t know about you but when I’m comfortable and well fed I want to stay put. Maybe Elijah was like that too. Maybe that’s why God allowed the brook to dry up (1 Kings 17:7). Maybe that was the only way Elijah would have been willing to go to Zarephath (1 Kings 17:9), considering it was a 100-mile hike through a blistering wasteland.

“Then the word of the Lord came to him: ‘Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there.’ So he went to Zarepath.”

— 1 Kings 17:8-10 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, our brook has dried up and the ravens have stopped coming. Tell us what to do, tell us where to go. Speak the word so that we may hear and obey. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
