Why did Jesus make going to the synagogue a priority? Not to receive ministry but to do ministry. Because that was where needy people went in search of love and healing. Some of His greatest miracles were done in the synagogue on the Sabbath. In public worship we lose our independence and become interdependent. God becomes “our Father” instead of “my Father.” In public worship we learn to serve, to forgive, to share and to love. When we worship we not only love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, but also our neighbor as ourself (see Matthew 22:37 & 38).
