When accident or disease strikes or death threatens, family members long for a word from God—a healing word, a word of hope. Or better yet, they want to experience the comfort of His presence. And, as inconceivable as it may seem, that is what we do, every one of us who call ourselves friends and Christians. We embody the presence of the Lord, become His hand extended. We listen with love, absorb the hurt and fear without rebuke, and when the time is right, we speak words of hope and comfort!

— 2 Corinthians 7:5-6 (NLT)
