Spiritual battles are exhausting. They suck the very life out of you, often leaving you angry, lonely and tired. Consider Elijah the prophet. He became so spiritually and emotionally exhausted after his showdown with the false prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel that he laid down under a tree and prayed to die (see 1 Kings 19:1-4).
So, what can we do?
Let David be your example. When he despaired for his life, “Jonathan, Saul’s son strengthened his hand in God” (1 Samuel 23:16). If spiritual giants like David and Elijah grew weary in the battle and needed refreshed how much more do we need to be strengthened in the Lord.
“No weapon forged against you will prevail,
— Isaiah 54:17 (NIV)
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.”
Lord Jesus, we are praying for that person who is absolutely worn out. Protect them I pray and strengthen them. Amen.
