Thanksgiving Day is typically characterized by family gatherings and football games, sumptuous meals, and delicious deserts. Somewhere in the midst of all the activity we usually pause to give thanks for all of our blessings. That’s well and good but this year I would like to encourage you to go a step farther. Instead of just being thankful for what you have I want you to give thanks for the One who has you, for the One whose everlasting arms cradle you.

“There is no one like the God of Israel.
He rides across the heavens to help you,
across the skies in majestic splendor.
The eternal God is your refuge,
and his everlasting arms are under you.”

— Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, remind us that You are greater than all Your gifts. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
