Jesus’ teaching was richly seasoned with the Word. On numerous occasions He quoted from the Psalms and the Prophets, (see Matthew 15:7-9). He alluded to the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah (see Matthew 10:15), referred to the days of Noah (see Luke 17:26), spoke of the sign of Jonah the prophet (see Matthew 12:39-41) and used the example of David eating the showbread (see Matthew 12:1-8). Following His resurrection He spent an entire day expounding the Scriptures to two despairing disciples as they journeyed from Jerusalem to Emmaus (see Luke 24:25-27). Luke says,
“And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”
— Luke 24:27 (NKJV)
Lord let us live in the Word so we can teach it. Amen.
