As we seek to be like Christ the disciplines of prayer, Scripture, public worship, and obedience will become increasingly important to us. At this point we will likely encounter a new temptation. Now we will be tempted to look to the disciplines as the source of our strength. They are not and in fact they have value only as a way of drawing us closer to the Lord. Christ is our strength. The disciplines are merely the means whereby we tap into His inexhaustible resources. The disciplines are the vehicle through which power is transferred from Christ to us. God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect. That’s 2 Samuel 22:33.
“Those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
Lord strengthen us with Your power. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
