To be delivered from a sinful stronghold requires both divine intervention and daily spiritual discipline. Only divine intervention can break the stronghold but once it’s broken daily spiritual discipline is required to walk in freedom. Before the stronghold is broken the “strong man” sits on the throne of your life dictating your actions, but once it is broken, he is kicked out and the new spiritual man is in control. Now the “strong man” is a beggar but if we give him so much as a crust of bread, he will retake control. That’s why he must be denied at every turn, hence the need for daily spiritual disciplines.
