When the doctors informed us that Dad’s death was imminent, my sister took a leave of absence from her job in order to help Mother care for him. Being the only daughter, she and Dad had a special relationship, making acceptance of his impending death especially difficult for her. Still, she served without flinching. Although her heart was breaking, she never complained. She performed even the most menial task with a grace that transformed it into an act of love. Her tireless efforts made Dad’s last days not only bearable, but blessed.
“They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.”
— Philippians 4:18
Lord Jesus, may my sister’s example inspire us to sacrificially serve those we love. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
