As I look back over my life I am amazed at the Lord’s patience and His perseverance. Countless times He would have been justified in casting me out on the scrapheap of life, especially during my early years, but He didn’t. Like the vessel in Jeremiah’s vision (Jeremiah 18:4) I was marred in the Lord’s hand, but He did not cast me aside. Instead, He demonstrated His patience and His perseverance by continuing to work with me until He had fashion a vessel of honor.

What about you? Even if you have given up on yourself the Lord hasn’t given up on you. With patience and determination, He is fashioning you into a vessel of honor.

“Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.”

— Jeremiah 18:6 (NIV 1984)

Lord, You are the potter we are the clay. Make us into the people we ought to be. Amen.
