We do not remember David as an adulterer and a murderer, but as a man after God’s own heart. Why? Because no matter how grievously he sinned he never blamed anyone but himself. And because he took responsibility for his sin God forgive him and restore him. In Psalm 32: 5 he says,
“Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
— Psalm 32:5 (NLT)
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.”
Lord Jesus, hear our confession and forgive our sins. Make us truly men and women who, like David, have a heart for God. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
