I’m sure you’re familiar with the story of the four blind men who were asked to describe an elephant. The first blind man wrapped his arms around the elephant’s huge leg and concluded he was like a tree. The second blind man grabbed hold of the elephant’s tail and decided he was like a rope. The third blind man bumped into the elephant broadside and decided he was like a wall. The fourth blind man took hold of the elephant’s tusk and concluded that he was like a spear.

Who was right? All four men were partially right but none of them was completely right. So it is with any single passage of Scripture revealing God—it is accurate but incomplete.

“…Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty.”

— Revelation 15:3 (NIV)

Lord us to utilize both the insight of godly people and the Holy Scriptures to see You as You are. Amen.
