I’m nearing the final season of my life, and I realize that there are many things I may never accomplish. For instance, I will probably never be invited to preach at the General Council of the Assemblies of God. I may never write a best-selling book. I may never serve as pastor of a church of several thousand members, and I will probably never be elected to an important position in my denomination. Achievements of that nature, while gratifying, pale in comparison with the true achievements of life—the shaping of the faith and character of our families.

“Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.”

— Joshua 1:7 (NIV)

Lord, help us to realize that nothing is more important than the eternal destiny of our families. Amen.
