Having lived in “tornado alley” for a number of years, I am well acquainted with those deadly storms. There is much about them I do not understand, but there is one thing of which I am certain—if you wait until a tornado touches down, it is too late to build a storm shelter. It’s equally true that to overcome the inevitable storms life brings, you must build your storm shelter before trouble strikes.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

— Psalm 91:1–2

Lord Jesus, give us the wisdom and the foresight to make You our refuge and our fortress whatever storm we may face. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
