To the woman taken in adultery Jesus was the bravest man in all the world (John 8:2-11). He risked the wrath of the religious zealots to rescue her. There was no question of her guilt. They caught her in the very act. The law of Moses was clear—take her outside the city gates and stone her. But Jesus wasn’t interested in judging her. Instead of allowing the religious zealots to coerce him into condemning her He called their bluff.
Jesus said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”
— John 8:10-11 (NLT)
Lord help us to extend Your mercy to those who become trapped in sin. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
