As a young pastor I grievously wounded a new believer. With unspeakable sorrow I fear I may have destroyed his faith, maybe causing him to lose his soul for eternity. The Lord would have been well justified in casting me out on the scrapheap of life, but He didn’t. Instead, He allowed me to remain in ministry. Unbelievably, He continued to trust me to care for the souls of His people. Now you know the worst thing I ever did, but more importantly you know the best thing God ever did for me. He forgave me and gave me another chance!

Thank God, “. . . he (the Lord) does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.”

— Psalm 103:10 (NIV)

Thank you, Lord, for second chances. Amen.
