The problem-centered person looks at God through the wrong end of a telescope making Him look small and far away. As a result, his life is dominated by seemingly insurmountable problems, and he is driven to despair. The God-centered person, on the other hand, focuses on God’s sufficiency, on His love and His presence, and like the apostle Paul, he concludes, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
“I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.”
— Psalm 3:5-6 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, we don’t want to be problem-centered people but given what’s happen in our world it’s a constant temptation. Deliver us, we pray, and help us to focus on Your sufficiency. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
