Mother has been gone several years now, but I remember her last days as if they just happened. While maintaining my vigil beside her hospital bed, I realized I had a choice. I could focus on this tragedy and mother’s impending death, or I could revisit the memories of the rich life she so freely shared with those she loved. I choose the latter and thus began a journey that gave birth to an overwhelming sense of gratitude that comforts me to this day.
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all…Her children arise and call her blessed…”
— Prov. 31:29 and 28
Lord Jesus, help us to be grateful for all we’ve had rather than grieving over what we’ve lost. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
