It is easy to become disoriented when tragedy strikes. The cascade of events can confuse us. Tragedy can concuss our emotions until we no longer see things clearly. During that time, the counsel of a trusted spiritual friend can be invaluable. Not infrequently, they protect us from ourselves. Their counsel can keep us from doing things that we will later regret. Their encouragement can strengthen us in the Lord and restore our spiritual equilibrium.

Lord Jesus, I am thinking of those who have been battered by the storms of life until they have no strength left. Send them a trusted spiritual friend to strengthen and encourage them. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
