It seems logical to think that as we grow older our faith should increase making it easier to take risks. Unfortunately, that is seldom the case. As we grow older, most of us become more security conscious. We have more to lose than when we were younger and less opportunity to recover should we fail. If we are not careful our memories will become greater than our dreams tempting us to live in the past. But we can’t live in the past or we will die.

“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out!”

— Isaiah 43:18-10 (MSG)

Lord make us risk takers for Jesus. Amen.
